The festivals are many forms of Madagascar culture. The Alahamady Be which is the Mala New Year is a festival held in May-June. Many traditional celebrations such as the Famadiha, Gasytsara, Nosy Be, are held throughout the year that lasts up nearly two months each. The island of Madagascar houses 18 tribes and the culture is mixed throughout all the heritages in Madagascar. People of Madagascar are afraid of the wrath of their ancestors so they appease the spirits of the dead by taking their corpses out of their graves in order to change their clothes. The people of Madagascar are involved plentiful with celebrating the spirits of the dead.
To disturb the dead and unburying them from their grave site to remove their corpse also changing their clothes is extremely disrespectful. Madagascar culture is pretty intimidating due to their heavy influence of respecting and tampering with the dead. They also believe in ghosts which is freaky along side with celebrating months to worship and honor they holy dead is like having american Halloween going on for an entire month. Madagascar culture involves traditionally respecting their ancestors from generation to generation by rituals for the worship and preventing the spirits of their ancestors from being upset. The importance of Femadihana which is through June all the way up until September one of the main traditions that madagascarian people celebrate. |
